Trennon Paynter is the most decorated coach in ski halfpipe history — producing medals at every Winter Olympics since the sport's Olympic debut, multiple World Champions, World Cup Crystal Globes, Nations Cup titles, and 36 XGames medals. Beyond the snow, he has coached World Champion surfers and Cirque du Soleil's head coaches in off-axis acrobatics. Beyond sport, he has advised New York Times bestselling authors and a Forbes-recognized entrepreneur and CEO on managing risk.
Head Coach, Canadian National Halfpipe Ski Team. Built the program from nothing in 2005 — no funding, no federation — into the most decorated in the sport's history.
Creator of a "baby steps" methodology for acquiring high-risk skills under pressure — the same system behind his "air awareness" work with Red Bull's global surf program. Tailored and applied across every domain he coaches, from elite sport to leaders and teams operating under pressure.
Translating three decades at the edge of risk, fear, and pressure into lessons for teams and leaders operating under pressure.
Trennon Paynter is among the most successful high performance coaches Canada has ever produced.
The exchange of ideas… was a huge success. We would be excited to collaborate with Trennon again in the future.
Within six hours of applying Trennon's ground and snow work progressions, Kai completed a double rotation landing squarely into the airbag — a first. As a coach of 12 Olympic cycles and a two-time Olympic athlete myself, I share with confidence that Trennon delivers.
What inspires me most about Trennon is his ability to come up with an out-of-the-box idea and execute it. He's highly motivated, passionate, and a master at turning creative ideas into reality.
Trennon Paynter, OLY, is a high-performance leader with a track record of building winning teams from nothing. An Olympian and National Team athlete himself, he is a two-time North American tour champion, two-time National Champion, top ten World Championships finisher, and top 5 World Cup finisher. He founded the Canadian Halfpipe Ski program in 2005 — before any government funding or "national team" structure existed for the sport — and helped guide it all the way to Olympic inclusion, winning multiple world championship titles along the way, while also directing North America's largest summer ski camp — Momentum Ski Camps in Whistler, where he coached for over a decade — as Camp Director from 2004 to 2008, managing 20+ staff and 500+ attendees each season. As Head Coach, he has produced Olympic medals at 4 consecutive Winter Games and medals at 9 World Championships. He is a 12-time recipient of the Coaching Association of Canada's Coaching Excellence Award, given to coaches who produce medals at World Championships and the Olympic Games. His methods have crossed well beyond skiing — coaching aerial awareness for Red Bull's global surf program, training Cirque du Soleil performers alongside his national team athletes, and collaborating with Snowboard Canada, Surfing Australia, and Softball Canada. Trennon is based across Canada, Australia, and Europe.
